A useful KYC integration starts with a precise question: which documents and results does your product actually need? A focused catalog makes that decision easier than a long list of unrelated checks.
The selected KYC family contains six APIs: Aadhaar Verification, PAN Verification, Voter ID Verification, Driving License (DL), Passport and OCR.
Map each API to a workflow step
Start by documenting the purpose of each check in your journey.
- Use Aadhaar Verification when your flow needs a consent-led Aadhaar check.
- Use PAN Verification, Voter ID Verification, DL or Passport when that document is part of your identity policy.
- Use KYC OCR when your workflow needs to extract supported fields from an identity document before review.
Do not add a check simply because it is available. Every extra step should have a clear product or policy reason.
Review inputs and results
For each candidate API, confirm:
- The required input and consent flow
- The fields included in the configured response
- Status, error and retry behaviour
- How your application handles incomplete or inconclusive results
The final field set can vary by service contract, so integration planning should use the endpoint documentation supplied during onboarding.
Plan for responsible data handling
Collect only the information required for the chosen check. Define masking, access, retention and deletion rules before launch, and keep sensitive values out of application logs.
Prefer a clear integration boundary
KYC responses should feed your own onboarding and review policy. Keep that policy separate from API transport code so you can change a check without rewriting the entire customer journey.
